Overview of Use of Funds: Good Works Grant Writing is excited to congratulate our clients, the Phoenix Boys Choir and the Phoenix Girls Chorus, for being selected to receive a combined $19,000 in grants from the Arizona Commission on the Arts! These two government grants will provide general operating support for the 2024-25 seasons of the Phoenix Boys Choir and the Phoenix Girls Chorus. Celebrating their 77th anniversary with their 2024-25 season, the Phoenix Boys Choir pursues their mission to transform the lives of boys and young men (ages 7-18) from diverse backgrounds by fostering and developing the highest level of excellence in musical performance, character competencies, leadership skills, and global awareness. For the Phoenix Girls Chorus, their 2024-25 season represents their official relaunching, which will be a new beginning for their organization and a renewal of their mission to cultivate, inspire, and empower young women to find their voice through world-class music, education, and performance.

Overview of Grant Objective/Impact: With $14,800 in general operating support funding from the Arizona Commission on the Arts, the Phoenix Boys Choir will provide choral music training, music theory education, and performance experiences for young men throughout the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. The Phoenix Boys Choir’s operations primarily focus on their five choir ensembles for young men. In addition to rehearsals, music education, and concert performances, their Ensembles produce recordings; tour at local, national, and international levels; and collaborate with professional performing artists and art organizations. They also offer their national “New Works Rising” Competition, as well as the Neighborhood Choir Program (offered in partnership with the Phoenix Girls Chorus).

Likewise, with $4,200 in general operating support funding from the Arizona Commission on the Arts, the Phoenix Girls Chorus will make strides to reintroduce all their top choral ensembles, beginning with their two Lower Choir Ensembles for girls ages 7-14. They will also deliver the following programs jointly with the Phoenix Boys Choir: Neighborhood Choir Program (choral music programming at schools in Metro Phoenix), two Summer Camps, and VocaSol (a free one-day choir format for beginning and experienced singers).
