Overview of Use of Funds: Good Works Grant Writing is excited to congratulate our client, the Phoenix Boys Choir, for being selected to receive a $10,000 grant from the Margaret T. Morris Foundation! During 2025, this generous foundation grant will support the Phoenix Boys Choir’s four Youth Ensembles for youth ages 7-18. Choristers enter the Youth Ensembles at the beginning and intermediate levels (Cadet Choir and Town Choir). Boys demonstrating advanced levels of musicianship, leadership, responsibility, discipline, and commitment progress to the Phoenix Boys Choir’s Tour Choir. The fourth Youth Ensemble, the Young Men’s Ensemble, is an advanced choir for those with changed voices. Funding from the Margaret T. Morris Foundation will help 85+ boys and young men to develop their creative and individual potential through their engagement in the Phoenix Boys Choir’s four Youth Ensembles.

Overview of Grant Objective/Impact: Through their four 2025 Youth Ensembles, the Phoenix Boys Choir will deliver music training and education to boys and young men, helping them to develop their vocal abilities and musical skills, while promoting discipline, teamwork, confidence, and social skills. Choristers participate in weekly rehearsals and music theory classes, attend local and national workshops and honor choir ensembles, and focus on leadership development and character building. Choristers also perform in the Phoenix Boys Choir’s annual concert series and in performances throughout the Valley; collaborate with the Phoenix Symphony, Arizona Opera, Phoenix Girls Chorus, ASU Gospel Choir, and New Works Rising Choral Competition. They learn to respect structure and routine, leadership, and community involvement and build cultural sensitivities by performing nationally and internationally.
