Overview of Use of Funds: Good Works Grant Writing is overjoyed to congratulate our client, the State of Black Arizona (SBAZ), for being selected by Fry’s Food Stores to be awarded $2,500 in gift cards to Fry’s and $20,000 in cash donations. Fry’s will be the key sponsor of SBAZ’s Southern Arizona Inaugural African American Leadership Institute, a one year initiative to develop 25 emerging African American leaders during 2022.

Overview of Grant Objective/Impact: The African American Leadership Institute (AALI) is a 10-week program led by experts from diverse backgrounds and various fields of expertise. AALI offers participants the opportunity to engage with Arizona’s foremost businesses and policy authorities in a dialogue about leadership and the African American community. Emerging leaders are developed for the purpose of increasing African American representation in key civic, political, and workforce leadership roles. In partnership with Fry’s Food Stores., the State of Black Arizona will offer to AALI cohorts, beginning Fall 2021 and Summer/Fall 2022. With support from Fry’s Food Stores, SBAZ will provide participation scholarships for the lowest income candidates from Cochise and Santa Cruz Counties, and all graduates will receive small awards to expand their leadership activities at home (e.g. networking, professional development).
