Overview of Use of Funds: Good Works Grant Writing is thrilled to congratulate our client, SOUNDS Academy, for being selected to receive a $60,000 grant from the Ellis Center of Educational Excellence at the Arizona Community Foundation. Funding will support SOUNDS Academy’s Overnight Summer Music Program, a new five-day summer program that will provide 20 Prescott children (grades 6-10) from low-income backgrounds with 120 hours of instrumental music instruction per child. Students will make great strides in their musical ability, as well as learn to exemplify the character values of creativity, leadership, perseverance, resilience, and teamwork.

Overview of Grant Objective/Impact: SOUNDS Academy’s Overnight Summer Music Program gives underprivileged children the opportunity to experience both music and camp during a five-day overnight experience they would not have access to otherwise. This program aims to reduce the inequity of access to music education while developing not only the musical talent but the character and leadership ability of each child. Our program will take place at Yavapai Community College in Prescott, AZ, where 20 SOUNDS Academy students will participate in an intensive program. Each student will receive high-quality music education and instruction in guitar, piano, woodwind, brass, or string instruments.
