Overview of Use of Funds: Good Works Grant Writing is excited to congratulate our client, New Life Center (NLC), for being selected to receive a generous grant from the Diane & Bruce Halle Foundation! This foundation grant will support NLC’s Emergency Shelter Operational and Comprehensive Services during the next year. NLC’s Emergency Shelter provides refuge and critical essentials that directly enhance the immediate well-being of those escaping from violence through customized care and attention to each survivor. Utilizing a trauma-informed model, NLC’s emergency shelter provides refuge and essential services for approximately 450 adult survivors, and their families, escaping from varying forms of violence each year.

Overview of Grant Objective/Impact: Many in Maricopa County are living in dire and harmful circumstances, and oftentimes, conditions that are so dangerous they must flee their homes at once. Through New Life Center’s emergency shelter programming, they are equipped to welcome women, men, and families who are scared and desperately seeking refuge from violence. Designed to address the complex circumstances faced by survivors of violence, the overall goal of the organization’s emergency shelter is to provide safety and fulfill the pressing needs of participants. During NLC’s last fiscal year, they provided 17,950 safe bed nights and supplied 27,849 meals to 351 survivors and their families while residing at our shelter. Additionally, NLC’s front-line staff offered 9,503 hours of individual advocacy tirelessly addressing each survivor’s unique needs so that they may begin to heal from trauma, rebuild trust, grow in confidence, and transition from crisis to self-sufficiency.
