Overview of Use of Funds: Good Works Grant Writing is excited to congratulate our client, Stardust Non-Profit Building Supplies, for being selected to receive a $50,000 grant from Thunderbirds Charities! This generous corporate grant will support Stardust’s Gifts In Kind Program, which assists more than 250 non-profit organizations in obtaining essential items (such as toiletries, diapers, household appliances, and school supplies) that they then distribute to the individuals they support. Grant funding will support the direct costs of expanding this program during 2024, enabling Stardust to process donations of much larger quantities on a regular basis and to redistribute $1 billion worth of materials annually. Thunderbirds Charities will help Stardust to better meet the needs of the non-profits they support, contributing to their missions to serve vulnerable populations.
Overview of Grant Objective/Impact: Stardust’s Gifts In Kind Program facilitates the transfer of essential goods from large retail companies to low-income individuals. Stardust collects weekly donations from large retailers (including Walmart, Amazon, CVS, and Staples) of new, unused items that would otherwise end up in landfills (such as diapers, hygiene items, and linens) and redistributes them to the community. They provide thousands of items to non-profits, schools, and religious organizations in Maricopa County year-round., with their Gifts In Kind Program actively easing cost-of-living burdens for low-income families, making health, stability, and upward economic mobility more possible. There are currently more than 250 agencies enrolled in Stardust’s Gifts In Kind Program. In collaboration with these non-profits, the program redistributes 1,136,000+ items to more than 200,000 individuals annually.
