This generous corporate grant will support New Pathways for Youth’s Workforce Development/College & Career Planning Programming during their 2023-24 program year (FY24), with a special focus on STEM careers and topics. With support from Deloitte funding, New Pathways for Youth will connect 500 youth to the education, resources, and relationships necessary to help them graduate high school, pursue post-secondary or vocational education, and achieve economic stability at significantly higher rates.
Overview of Grant Objective/Impact: New Pathways for Youth is committed to providing underserved youth with access to various opportunities, including those in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Through innovative programs and partnerships, they empower young individuals to explore, learn, and excel in these critical disciplines, ultimately shaping the next generation of leaders and problem solvers. New Pathways for Youth offers one-on-one mentoring and group support to young people from low-income communities. These mentors are often professionals in STEM fields or have a strong interest in STEM subjects. They provide guidance, motivation, and encouragement to help the mentees discover their interests and potential in STEM. For youth interested in pursuing higher education or careers in STEM, New Pathways for Youth offers guidance in the college application process and assists with scholarship opportunities. They also help young people explore different STEM career options and support them in building the necessary skills and qualifications. The organization is also pursuing partnerships with local businesses and tech companies to provide internships and job placement opportunities for their mentees. By connecting youth with these real-world experiences, they gain valuable skills, practical knowledge, and exposure to the professional world of STEM.
