Recipient Name: Benevilla
Overview of Use of Funds: Good Works Grant Writing is thrilled to congratulate our client, Benevilla, for being selected to receive a $100,000 grant from the BHHS Legacy Foundation. BHHS funding will support Benevilla’s new Benefitness Adaptive Gym, an adaptive wellness center that will offer specialized equipment for individuals (ages 65+) in wheelchairs, people who have limited motion, and those who are differently abled so they can meet their health and wellness goals. The Benefitness Adaptive Gym will be the first adaptive gym in Phoenix’s West Valley specifically designed to meet the needs of older adults who are differently abled due to their medical condition(s), making this project unique to our local communities.
Overview of Grant Objective/Impact: According to the CDC, adults 65 and older gain significant health benefits from regular physical activity, including reduced risk and improved management of chronic medical conditions such as obesity, heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. In a community survey, West Valley residents ages 65+ expressed they were interested in a gym with circuit training, adaptive equipment and a caregiver relaxation area. The Benefitness Adaptive Gym addresses the critical need for physical activity among older adults and adults with different abilities with an adaptive gym offering specialized training equipment that meets their needs.
