Overview of Use of Funds: Good Works Grant Writing is excited to congratulate our client, Future for KIDS, on being selected to receive a $10,000 grant from Season for Sharing! This foundation grant will provide support for Future for KIDS’ 2024-25 (FY25) Discover Your Future Program, a free, two-hour, out-of-school time program held once a week over 26 weeks during the school year. Future for KIDS partners with Title I schools and charter schools located in under-resourced neighborhoods in Maricopa County to offer Discover Your Future. At each site, their dedicated volunteer mentors lead small groups of youth through a fun, yet challenging curriculum designed to support the formation of social-emotional learning skills vital to academic and interpersonal success and overcoming adversity. With Season for Sharing’s gift, Future for KIDS will engage up to 700 underserved 3rd-6th grade youth with hands-on, out-of-school programming and high-quality mentorship promoting resiliency and expanding STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) learning.
Overview of Grant Objective/Impact: With a $10,000 foundation grant, Discover Your Future’s model will allow Future for KIDS to bring STEAM education directly to under-resourced communities and remove barriers to access. At each session youth participate in three program elements:
- STEAM (STEM + arts) CHALLENGES (45 min.) create an appreciation for academics and build confidence in youth learning and applying STEAM concepts.
- ETHICS/PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT DISCUSSIONS (15 min.) help youth learn self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
- PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES (45 min.) involve structured athletic activities and games known to promote an active lifestyle and encourage youth to try new things.
