Overview of Use of Funds: Good Works Grant Writing is excited to congratulate our client, The State of Black Arizona, on being selected to receive a $25,000 event sponsorship from Arizona Public Service (APS) Corporate Giving! This corporate grant will provide support for The State of Black Arizona’s Fall 2025 African American Leadership Institute (AALI), Arizona’s only culturally specific leadership program for Black professionals. AALI provides targeted masterclasses, a leadership retreat, and a supportive network to equip participants with the skills, knowledge, and connections needed to advance in their careers and drive systemic change. With the support of APS as the presenting sponsor, AALI will empower 20 Black professionals in the greater Phoenix area through a 10-week program focused on leadership development and mentorship in key areas. APS funding will also support long-term impact, as AALI graduates go on to mentor others, advocate for policy change, and amplify Black voices in leadership positions. This investment in Black professionals will help drive systemic change, ensuring Arizona’s leadership better reflects the diversity of its population. This gift represents the 8th consecutive year of funding from APS for AALI.

Overview of Grant Objective/Impact: The State of Black Arizona’s overarching goal of AALI is to foster the development of Black professionals to contribute to a more equitable and inclusive Arizona – one where Black voices are amplified in key decision-making spaces. To this end, AALI aims to:

  1. Equip emerging Black leaders with tools for career advancement.
  2. Increase Black leadership representation across sectors in the Phoenix-Metro area.
  3. Build a strong, connected network of Black professionals.
